Body Shop Manager

The Body Shop Manager is responsible for writing estimates and assigning repairs to the technicians in a way that creates flow between the body and paint shops to achieve targeted delivery dates. This person will ensure that each repair achieves safety, productivity, profitability, and quality standards. The Body Shop Manager will lead their team to help drive continuous improvements in the production process.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for achieving daily and weekly safety, quality, delivery and engagement goals
  • Provide direction to the production staff to ensure repair orders are processed according to each repair plan.
  • Create repair plan with the technicians.
  • Maintain all repair order information in the management system to reflect vehicle status and document additional damage.
  • Address client requests, questions and concerns in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Stage and confirm parts orders and schedule sublet vendors per each repair plan.
  • Develop staff by setting and communicating performance/production expectations, track performance, identify development needs, coach and mentor.
  • Sustain cleanliness of work areas and enforce all safety/OSHA/EPA guidelines.
  • Inspect all vehicle repairs for quality control through each stage of the repair process and prior to customer delivery.
  • Take inventory and order materials.
  • Hold daily stand up meetings with your team to address any problems from the prior day.
  • Communicate daily achievements and challenges to upper management during daily debrief.
  • Other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-5 years of auto body estimating software experience required. Advanced understanding and knowledge of operations, and repair process/procedures. Proven experience managing employees in a high performing environment.
  • I-CAR certification and ASE training preferred.
  • Ability to be think critically, multi-task and problem solve.
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Proficient computer and communication skills.
  • Ability to receive direction and work well with others.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Must be able to work the following days and hours:

o Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and pull
  • Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping
  • Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs)
  • Performing repetitive motions
  • This is a hands-on, working position

Painter’s Helper

The primary role of the Painter’s Helper is to assist the Lead Paint Technician in prepping vehicles for paint and inspecting them for imperfections after they have been painted. This person will be responsible to verify that all paint operations are complete, all masking material is removed, and reinstall any parts that were removed for paint related-duties.  

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Remove grease, dirt, and/or paint from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application using abrasives, solvents, and/or brushes
  • Prime, sand and mask vehicles that are to be painted or coated
  • Buff and wax the painted vehicle, as needed
  • Inspect painted vehicles for quality workmanship
  • Additional duties may include minor chip repair, touch ups, de-nibbing, wet sanding and/or buffing
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience in a body shop
  • Honest, ambitious and reliable

  • General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work the following days and hours:
    • Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
